What is Ziply Fiber?

Ziply Fiber is a brand of WaveDivision Capital, who acquired internet networks formerly operated by Frontier Communications in areas of the northwestern U.S. Effective May 2020, the Ziply Fiber brand took the place of Frontier Communications in areas of Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington.

We evaluate broadband providers in four categories: affordability, performance, value and customer satisfaction.

We evaluate broadband providers in four categories: affordability, performance, value and customer satisfaction. Each category contains multiple sub-factors, all of which are weighted differently to impact the provider’s overall score.

For each sub-factor, we score all providers on a continuous scale of one to five, relative to the industry as a whole. Because the average download speed in America is currently 290 Mbps, for example, we assigned all plans with download speeds between 100 and 299 Mbps a score between three and four. Xfinity’s 200 Mbps plan received a 3.50 score for download speed, while Spectrum’s 500 Mbps plan got a 3.71.

We only considered standardized data points in our scoring system. More abstract data like consistency of service and brand reputation is still part of our analysis, but we opted to let our writers address them in the context of each review.

Ziply encourages its customers to cut the cord, making it easy for them to sign up for a streaming service. You can choose your streaming service and device right on Ziply’s website.

You can add Ziply FIber Voice to your internet plan for an additional $20/mo.

Equipment, installation, data caps and contracts

Equipment

You can rent a router from Ziply for $10/mo. or get the Whole Home Wi-Fi package for $20/mo. This package includes the Ziply Fiber router and up to three Wi-Fi extenders.

Installation

Right now Ziply is offering free professional installation for its fiber optic internet service.

Data caps and contracts

There are no data caps or annual contracts with Ziply Fiber internet plans.

You will receive your Ziply Fiber bill the same way you currently receive your Frontier Communications bill, either by mail or e-mail.

How to pay your Ziply Fiber bill

Online through your bank – Pay the same as you would for your Frontier bill, but set the payee address to:

By phone – Call the Ziply Fiber customer service number at 866.699.4759 to process your payment by phone. Note that the number to pay your Ziply Fiber bill by phone may change.
In person – The same locations that currently accept Frontier Communications bill payments will also accept Ziply Fiber payments.

If you are enrolled in automatic payments with Frontier Communications, either by credit card or ACH, no action is required on your part. Ziply Fiber will automatically transfer your information.

Will my bill increase?

Currently, Ziply Fiber has indicated that customers will see no changes to their monthly bill.

Why did Frontier Communications sell to Ziply Fiber?

These types of transactions are common in the telecommunications industry. In fact, Frontier Communications purchased the very same networks they are now selling to WaveDivision Capital from Verizon in 2009. The good news is current customers can expect few changes to the service, if any.

When is the transition from Frontier to Ziply Fiber happening?

Frontier Communications services automatically transferred to the new Ziply Fiber brand in May 2020.
